Good morning Ivonne,

thanks for the e-mail but most of all thank you for the funny lesson we had on Saturday: maybe you noticed that V. spent the first 15 minutes just watching us as she was trying to understand what was going on, then she started to participate and she finally enjoyed both the story and the song.

In fact while we were going home she told me “tac tac tac” patting on her head: at first I thought she had hit her head but as she continued I understood she was recalling Hocus coming out of the egg!

So we went through the story again and again and quite surprisingly she repeated ALL the words that I said about the birds and ducks and frogs, a thing that had never happened before because she usually “translates” all I say from English to Italian. This was a huge gratification to me and shows how great the “having fun with the language” is. She finally saw that that code (English language) that Daddy uses is also useful to play with someother kids! And that was the most remarkable result.

Then we arrived home and we repeated all the lesson again for mummy, to show her what we played and here again V. started the song, no words but only the rhythm, but I recognized “head shoulders knees and toes”, and there we went on.

So I can definitely say the first lesson was more than worthwhile and I can’t wait for the next!

Ieri pomeriggio ho ricevuto il pacco con gli altri due Hocus e Lotus. Grazie tante! I miei bambini sono stati felicissimi:hanno prima detto le parole magiche “Hocus Lotus, Hox Lox open box!”, poi hanno aperto the box e non ti dico quando hanno visto che dentro c’erano Hocus e Lotus …..sorridevano, li abbracciavano, li baciavano. È stata una bella sorpresa.

 Sono molto contenta, ogni giorno le mie bambine ripetono spontaneamente paroline in inglese per spiegare qualcosa in italiano: se la camera è in disordine dicono dirty, poi quando mettono in ordine i giochi ci chiamano e dicono ora è clean.

... mentre recitavamo la storia di Hocus c’e’ stato un momento in cui noi mamme e papa’ ci guardavamo negli occhi e ridevamo come dei pazzi (senza farlo vedere troppo ai bimbi — immaginatevi 10 adulti che non si sono mai visti e che si ritrovano a fare la mossa e il verso della rana! )...

Per quanto riguarda la mia bimba (quasi 2 anni), vi dico solo che gia’ da domenica, il giorno dopo il corso voleva che cantassi hocky cocki (come lo dice lei) e che facessi le mosse di Hocus e i suoi amici…. e anche stamattina prima di andare a scuola voleva vedere il dvd.

vorremmo raccontarvi l'esperienza che abbiamo vissuto una decina di giorni fa. Le maestre ci avevano detto che dovevamo andare a fare  una passeggiata, per sentire i profumi dell' autunno. Invece ci hanno detto una bugia! Ci hanno fatto accomodare nel salotto di un albergo e, dopo un po', è apparsa una donna! Chi poteva esserci dietro la maschera di Lotus? Proprio lei, la prof.ssa Taeschner! Abbiamo raccontato una delle nostre canzoni (beh! Proprio nostre nostre no!). Comunque è un metodo bellissimo per imparare le lingue. Mi ha fatto piacere conoscerla anche se mi è dispiaciuto non vedere  la sua faccia. Ma... Abbiamo cantato e recitato. E' stata una bella esperienza.

....la mia scuola nel 2003 è stata il primo nido in lombardia a proporre ai bimbi un laboartorio d'inglese! abbiamo tentato questo esperimento poichè il gruppo di bimbi presenti aveva un'ottima (relativamente all'età) padronanza della lingua italiana...ed è stato un successo
l'approccio che usiamo è molto ludico...i bambini imparano la lingua attraverso l’esecuzione di giochi, canzoni, filastrocche e attività che stimolano contemporaneamente il canale uditivo, visivo e cinestesico, consentendo un apprendimento duraturo...un sito che ti consiglio è quello di Hocus e Lotus.

As a parent, I love watching my children play. Many times, it seems like they learn, play, and figure out new ideas & processes all by themselves. It is our job as parents to educate our kids as best we can so that a new generation may lead the world...

Entertaining and educational - Two thumbs up,
I highly recommend this video. My 3 year old son enjoys watching it soooo much! The animation, the colors and the singing make this video a real edutainment tool. Hocus and Lotus (the characters in the video) have become his best friends. He enjoys watching it over and over again and he is also beginning to sing phrases in Spanish. I like the fact that only Spanish is spoken in the video and that there are no subtitles. Subtitles would be useless because children start reading later on anyways. I just wish they had the DVD version. Two thumbs up from me!!

Completely in Spanish. No english whatsoever. My son (3 yo) was a little overwhelmed at first. The characters talk so fast on the video, and the songs arent that clear sometimes. However, once we watched it several times, he seems to be more interested in it, after I explained to him who Hocus and Lotus were, and what they are doing in each segment. This is one you HAVE to watch it with your child in order for them to catch on. I am still glad I bought this and plan on viewing it over and over with my son.

Bastano pochi minuti al giorno per prendere due piccioni con una fava: far divertire i nostri piccoli e nel frattempo dar loro le prime nozioni di inglese. Non si pensi male: è una iniziativa nata all’Università La Sapienza di Roma, che ha studiato questo metodo per insegnare le lingue straniere ai bimbi piccoli, a partire dalle scuole materne. Personalmente, ho scoperto per caso questi cartoni su Rai tre, dal lunedì al venerdì alle ore 16 circa; la mia bimba di due anni ne è rimasta incantata in quanto si presentano in una veste molto accattivante, coloratissimi, cadenzati da una musica e canzoncine orecchiabili e ripetitive, in modo da dare la possibilità al bimbo di memorizzare le parole. La storia gira attorno a due animaletti teneri teneri la cui razza è da definire, anche se sono ufficialmente “dinocroc” (incrocio tra dinosauretti e coccodrillini); essi vivono in un parco magico, coloratissimo, circondati da tanti amici animali. Esiste anche un sito internet da visitare: www.hocus-lotus.edu. Mamme, papà, andate anche voi a curiosare, ne rimarrete conquistati ed i vostri bimbi di più!
